After 10 years in the gym and minus 1 week of being an uncle (I'm not very organised when it comes to gifting), I realised something: every baby gift looked the same. Pastel teddies and plain rattles… none of them felt personal. I mean how was I going to live up to being the 'cool uncle' without a top tier baby gift?!
So I designed the baby dumbbell — a fun, safe, and sensory toy that makes every baby shower gift stand out.

Why I Built the First Gym-Themed Baby Toy
Seems like funny to say, but the idea of a plush dumbbell toy was the first thing that came to my mind. The shape would be easy to hold, the design would be funny and cute... and of course, it would be very unique and instantly personal.
When I searched online, I couldn’t find ANY baby dumbbells made from soft, baby-safe materials. There was one plastic toy with light-up buttons, but it wasn’t exactly the cuddly vibe I had in my head.
From there, I decided to do what had never been done before... Design the first gym-themed baby toy brand.
Are Baby Dumbbells Actually Safe?
Yes. Absolutely.
As a part of research and development (the fun stuff), understanding health and safety testings was essential. We worked through certifications like EN71, making sure every Hazza Toyz product met strict safety standards.
Because to the UK updated its baby toy rules and requirements, we opted to go for both CE and UKCA certificates, that way our toys stay compliant for families here and internationally.
As far as "weight" (or lack there of), the 1kg and 2kg embroidery are purely aesthetic. Each baby dumbbell is filled with PP cotton and wrapped in soft, baby-safe polyester. They’re designed to be cuddly, lightweight, and completely safe from newborn up.
What Makes a Unique Baby Gift Memorable?
In other words, why are our baby dumbbells such a great baby gift?
First of all, let’s talk about what it means to be unique. By definition, it’s about standing out — being different from the majority. And I don’t know about you, but I’ve yet to see the UK baby toy market flooded with cuddly dumbbells and kettlebells… yet 😉.
Saying that, being unique alone doesn’t automatically make something a great gift. What is so different within the health/fitness/gym world, is how passionate people are for it. Often times, the gym gives an extra purpose for people, and stands strong (pun intended) as a solid block in someone's routine.
Bundling such a positive message, along with the unique nature of gym-themed baby toys, really gives a gifting experience like no other!
